Lesley is committed to upholding the law with impartiality, administering equal justice, and treating everyone who comes into her courtroom with respect, fairness, and compassion. She is a graduate of Yale Law School and Harvard University.

Harris County Clerk Diane Trautman and Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector & Voter Registrar Ann Harris Bennett will talk to us about voting and elections in Harris County and the changes they have implemented since being elected to help make voter registration and voting easier and more accessible, including their plans for the future.
Join us at our monthly regular meeting on August 26, 2019. Local activist and educator Lou Weaver will join us to teach us about the different sexual orientations and gender identities encompassed by the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, including the unique and shared struggles of these communities and how those of us who are not members of the community can show our support.
Lou is a queer transgender man and a leader in Houston’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. With trans healthcare as a key component of his advocacy portfolio, he has helped educate healthcare providers and medical student groups on culturally competent care for the LGBTQ communities.

In honor of Women’s History Month, join TDWHarris for a movie night on Friday, March 29th, when we will watch RBG, the Academy Award-nominated documentary about the life and career of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
RBG was chosen by the National Board of Review as the Best Documentary Film of 2018, and nominated for several other awards, including the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary.
Bring a box/bag of your favorite movie candy or snack to share, and TDWHarris will provide the popcorn!

Dr. Washington practices Nephrology in Houston, Texas and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Her unique skill set has allowed her to have clinical privileges at several hospitals around the city, including Bayshore Hospital, Kindred Heights, Texas Select, Park Plaza, St. Luke’s Episcopal, Select Specialty, Memorial Herman Greater Heights, St. Joseph Hospital and Women’s Hospital.
Alongside her musical talent comes a knack for creative writing. Written in both English & Spanish, Dr. Washington has combined her medical know-how and experience with her love for music to compose her debut book.

We will be joined by Sam Zuniga, Harris County Democratic Party Field Manager, who will speak to us about the 2018 midterms, and the Party’s plans for 2019 and 2020.
Then we will hear from Texans Against Gerrymandering. Politicians on both sides of the aisle use gerrymandering to ensure their party’s success in elections. It is time to put the drawing of district lines into independent, non-partisan hands. We will describe how to change the status quo and what you can do to help! Join us in the effort to enact redistricting reform in Texas.
